Apple Pie Sharlotka
Quick and almost fat-free (no butter)
In Russia, Sharlotka is one of the most popular pies. The recipe is so easy that everyone can cook it with ingredients that usually are on hand. This apple pie is very low in calories as it is made without butter.
500 g (=1.1 lb) | apples |
150 g (= 1.2 cup) | flour |
180 g (= 1 cup) | sugar |
3 | eggs |

- Blend eggs and sugar until light and frothy. Add flour and a pinch of baking soda. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Peel and core apples. Slice thinly.
- Grease a baking pan. Pour in 2/3 of the batter, arrange apple slices on it and cover with the remaining batter.
- Preheat oven to 180C/355F and bake for about 30 minutes. Allow to cool before taking out of the baking pan.
